Whale Shark Encounter with Firefly Watching_ 3 Days / 2 Nights Sorsogon

Watch them ponderously glide alongside your boat – or choose to swim along with a “Butanding”, or even several – some 10 of them at any one time on lucky days. An unique phenomenon hard to find in other parts of the world. Swimming with a fish 18 meters long and weighing 40 tons is a magnificent experience. But can you imagine swimming with an entire school of these gentle giants!! They converge in the tropical waters near Sorsogon Province, especially the towns of Donsol, Pilar, Castilla and Magallanes, from November – June with peak sittings in February – May due to the abundance of plankton during these months.

Day 1_ Legaspi airport to Donsol
Upon arriving at Legaspi airport at 09:10 am (*), our representative awaits you for your transfer by air conditioned van to Donsol. Expect to arrive around 10:25 am. Rest of the day free to relax or explore the waters by kayak.
Day 2_ Whaleshark Encounter and Firefly watching
Breakfast. Be ready to depart around 08:30 am where you first register at the Tourism Center. Here you will watch a short video briefing and be fitted equipment for your whaleshark interaction before leaving to your boat (bring light snack & water, tour duration-3 hours) with boat departure 09:00 am. Around 12 noon your snorkeling with the giants is unfortunately over and you have the afternoon free to digest this unique experience and relax.
This evening around 18:30, your coordinator will pick you up by local tricycle for a 15 minutes ride to the mouth of the river . Here a small local outrigger boat awaits you to sail you down just before the sun sets over this mangrove forest. Watch nature’s wonder as the fireflies light up entire trees, creating an unique and serene scene for you to remember.
Day 3_ Donsol back to Legaspi airport
Breakfast and check-out taking into account that your transfer from Donsol to Legaspi airport is arranged for 10:00 am. Arrival is estimated at 11:15 AM, on time for an early check-in at the airport assuming your flight will depart 14:20 pm (*). You may opt to have lunch at the airport.
OPTIONAL DAY TOUR: TREK MAJESTIC MAYON VOLCANO
Standing at 2,421 meters, Mayon Volcano is a popular tourist attraction in the Bicol region. To add to its international limelight, Mayon is the most active volcano in The Philippines, having had 47 eruptions in the past 400 years. Due to Mayon’s volatility, the volcano is continuously monitored by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHILVOLCS).
Meet your coordinator in Legaspi City at 6 am. From here commute to Lidong, Sto Domingo where the trek will start under guidance of a mountain guide. You will be rewarded by lunch at Mt Mayon. After a long but rewarding day it is time to commute back again to Legaspi City where you are expected to arrive by 18:00pm.
