We took the opportunity last weekend to go around Cebu island as we could borrow the car from a friend. We noticed a growing demand from our clients to combine Negros and Cebu island (cebu city) with some other interesting destinations in the Philippines.
If you arrive in Dumaguete, a provincial town a.o. known for their university, we can book your overnight in Coco grande hotel. This hotel 3 star hotel has 2 sister resorts, apo island resort and Coco grove resort in Siquior island. Siquor island is a 45 min ferry ride away from Dumaguete city and in the island a further 30 minutes drive is needed to reach Coco grove resort. Apo island is a 1 hour drive and 45 min Bangka away from the city. Apo island offers great snorkeling oppertunities and is a protected marine reserve. Another place to stay in Dumaguete is Florentina homes hotel and in their popular restaurant they serve many international dishes. German owned Casablanca restaurant another option to have lunch/dinner is probably the best restaurant around and since they are located along the bay a stroll along the bay with some good life music around should not be missed.
Although there are better places to stay 30 min to 1 hour from Dumaguete city but they tend to be rather expensive and focus on diving only and are not into tours.
Eden Resort Facade with Pool & Seaview
Its just a short ferry ride of 30 minutes to reach Liloan in cebu island on the other side of the Tanon strait. The place we book is Eden resort which offers diving or we can organize a trip to oslob where you could snorkel with whalesharks. Optional but recommended is to include a visit to the Tumalog Falls. All rooms have a magnificent seaview over Tanon strait. Another option where we can book you is the quite expensive Sumilon island resort located close to Oslob. We dont offer any accomodation in the town of Oslob as the accomdation offered is below our and our guests standard. These days there are irregular banca trips from oslob to bohol and vice versa. The whale sharks are being fed in Oslob unlike the whale sharks in Donsol where the whale sharks are in their natural environment. Environmentalist oppose feeding whalesharks.
After your Oslob tour we can arrange a tour to the Kawasan falls and or you could opt to stay overnight in Moalboal. Our preferred place is the very well organized Magic island resort. You can stay in one of their well maintained 10 cottages near the sea. The highlights in Moalboal are diving and its a great place for some other adventure, such as biking, river climbing and canyoning.
Canyoning Cebu
From Moalboal we continue to cebu and stay overnight depending on schedule and other interests such as a city tour. Cebu city has beside an interesting history not much to offer and our guest use Cebu city as mainly as a stopover for their next destination such as Legaspi( mount mayon and Donsol to see the whalesharks) El nido, Puerto princesa in Palawan or Bohol via ferry.
The hotels we usually use for our guests in Cebu city are if you are into shopping quest hotel near Ayala malls. Another option for a comfortable overnight in Cebu city is Montebello resort. Here you will appreciate peace, a great garden and swimming pool. Best western Cebu plus lex offers also nice rooms in the center of Cebu city at reasonable rates. If 5 star is your preferred categorie Radisson Blue in Mandaue or Marco polo hotel (out of center and close to the mountains) we can book those hotels as well.
Nearly all resorts in Mactan island tends to be overpiriced ( 45 min-2 hours during rush hour from Cebu city). We can recommend Maribago bluewater or White sands beach resort or if a 5 star resort is your pick we could book for you boutique hotel Abaca or Shangrila beach resort.
